During the restoration of the dome of the basilica (over 130 m high), unique scaffolding was erected, allowing restorers to work at height with maximum safety. The structures followed the shape of the dome, creating a "second shell."

3. Longest Scaffolding – Great Wall of China

Kilometer-long stretches of scaffolding are being used during the restoration of the Great Wall of China. Interestingly, both modern metal structures and traditional Chinese bamboo scaffolding are used.

4. Bamboo Scaffolding in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is famous for its record-breaking bamboo scaffolding. Craftsmen assemble structures up to 40–50 stories high using only bamboo and plastic ties. This is one of the most impressive and unique uses of scaffolding in the world.

5. Largest Restoration Scaffolding – Notre Dame (Paris, France)

After the 2019 fire, a complex scaffolding system was built around the cathedral. It included tens of thousands of elements, designed to withstand the collapse of some of the damaged structures. This is one of the largest examples of the use of scaffolding in modern restoration.
